Platform Five – This week’s hottest social media tools and platforms
Welcome to Platform Five – our weekly look at the social media tools and platforms which have been making headlines over the last seven days.
This week we’ve got the low down on a blogger outreach tool generating huge amounts of buzz, changes at Google, and a cool campaign featuring The Inbetweeners.
There’s also a new way to blog direct from your Android device and an up and coming social network appears set to permeate the mainstream.
- Blogdash serves up the ultimate win / win? Business want to work with bloggers and bloggers want to work with businesses, but making that process a smooth one hasn’t always been easy. David Spinks has come up with a solution called BlogDash (a blogger outreach dashboard for businesses and bloggers) which was launched this week and could provide the elusive link we’ve all been looking for. I was fortunate enough to test this out during the beta phase and was impressed with how easy it was to use.
- Google places new emphasis on original content – Google has recognised that more and more people / businesses are taking content created by others and using it to improve their Search Engine Optimization. To get around this issue, Google has updated its search algorithm to reward original content more than copied content. Darren Rows aka Pro Blogger wrote this piece which explains it in more detail.
- Blogger and Android team up…finally! Blogger, the blog publishing platform from Google, now has an app for Android devices. This means blog posts can be created and published on the go. Hurrah!
- GetGlue gets bigger! GetGlue, the entertainment ‘check in and review’ network, is starting to post some impressive user data. Not only have they been completing several commercial relationships, but they’re also posting more traffic than ever before (12 million check ins and reviews per month). Is GetGlue about to get huge?!?
- The Inbetweeners get digital in support of Red Nose Day – iTunes has been cleverly used this week by the Red Nose day campaign which sees the stars of the hit show reunite for a special show called Rude Road Trip. You can download the show from iTunes with the proceeds going towards the Red Nose Day initiative.
