An introduction
Is there a way that a communications consultancy can always provide its clients with the right people
with the right experience at the right time?
That was the question that Dominic Shales and John Rivett asked themselves before forming Paratus
Communications in late 2003.
Having spent many years working at one of the world's leading PR consultancies, they had 20/20 vision
on the range of services offered by communications businesses at a local, national and international
level. With that knowledge, and the desire to form their own highly original business, they formed
Paratus Communications in October 2003.
They recognised two challenges in the PR marketplace and brought them together to form a unique
business: 1. Clients wanting better, more specialist, and up-to-date counsel to compete in increasingly
competitive markets; and 2. Consultants wanting to specialise in particular areas to strengthen their
own marketability.
Paratus is unique in that it provides all its clients with the relevant experts they need to carry
out their communications programmes in an effective and efficient manner.
This is achieved via a core full-time team, based in London, who manage a carefully selected
group of independent specialist consultants who are chosen from the UK's growing resource of
freelance consultants for their expertise in a particular field.
The Company's client list, and retention, is testament to the strength of the Paratus' bespoke
communications model across a wide range of services and sectors.
